Our Anglican Faith and Beliefs.
The Parish of Bass and Phillip Island is part of the Anglican Church in the Diocese of Gippsland and the three centres have a long history in the area.
We believe in God who created the world and who loves everything he made. God created humans in his own image and longs for us to be in a loving relationship with him. Sadly, many turned away from God and chose to live their own lives without God. But even greater than a parent loves their child, God loves us unconditionally and sent his son Jesus to be born, live a perfect life, to die on a cross taking on all our wrong doings, and then to rise again and live forever. God longs for us to turn to Jesus, say sorry and receive his love and forgiveness and promise of eternal life. an in this earthly life, we can live abundantly, full of God’s love, joy, and peace.
John 3:16   For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever
believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

We believe that the Bible is the word of God for us to read, learn, and grow in our Christian faith. We aim to get to know Jesus through reading the bible and prayer and meeting together as church, which is the body of Christ. As we grow more in love with Jesus and know of his love for us, we long to share that love with others. Jesus told his followers that the greatest two commandments are these:
Luke 10:27 ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’ and ‘ Love your neighbour as yourself’.
We believe that one day Jesus will return to reign, bringing justice to a hurting and broken world.
Our parish mission statement is that; we seek… By God’s grace to be a nurturing
community, proclaiming Christ, encouraging disciples, sharing hope and serving
the community and the world through love and justice.

If you have any questions about the Christian faith, please contact us or come along to church.
We would love to welcome you.
